Traveller Pen & Paper RPG
In 1977, game designer Marc Miller, proposed creating a role playing game set in deep space – a Dungeons & Dragons among the stars. Miller’s idea evolved into the Traveller role playing game. Gamers were now able to create characters and take them on journeys from star system to star system, engaging in space battles and exploring the surface of planets. A strong fan based evolved over the next decade, beginning in 1986 and continuing through 2008, no less than 4 different revisions of the pen and paper role playing game have been published. Most recently, Miller has been working on the fifth edition of Traveller, referred to by some as “T-5,” made available in beta version in February 2009. It draws from all previous versions of Traveller to create a complete and coherent system of core rules with chapter upon chapter of supporting materials on all aspects of the original official Traveller universe. Since its inception, over 1.5 million publications bearing the Traveller name have come to fruition, with the game also being the setting for various media, ranging from novels, early attempts at adapting the game for play on a PC, as well as a concept album by the heavy metal band Slough Feg.
